Instructions for Authors
Authorship Policy
Clinical Pharmacy and Health Informatics Journal allows for a maximum of eight authors. The maximum number of authors for a multicentre study is thirty. More authors can be included if necessary after consultation with the editor-in-chief.
We expect the first author in the author list to be the ‘real’ author, and the last author to be the (study) supervisor. Either can be corresponding author. We expect authorship to be based on following four criteria:
- Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
- Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; AND
- Final approval of the version to be published;
AND
- Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Article types and formats
The journal welcomes papers in the following categories: Review articles, research articles, short research reports, commentaries, ESCP best practice papers and letters to the Editor. Case reports are not considered for publication.
AII submissions (including Commentaries and, if necessary, Letters) will be peer-reviewed by experts.
This is a single blinded procedure: author names will be disclosed to the reviewers, reviewer names will as a rule not be disclosed to the authors.
Review articles
Review articles should not exceed 4000 words, excluding abstract and references. Reviews should be structured as follows: Introduction, Aim of the review, Method, Results, Discussion and Conclusion. Please provide a structured abstract with the headings: Background, Aim of the Review, Method, Results, and Conclusion. They may only contain 6 tables or figures. Authors are strongly encouraged to follow the PRISMA guideline and provide a completed PRISMA Statement checklist as an appendix, if the manuscript describes a systematic review.
Research articles
Research articles should not exceed 4500 words, excluding tables, figures, abstract, or references. Research articles should be structured as follows: Introduction, Aim of the study, Ethics approval, Method, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. Please provide a structured Abstract of 250 to 300 words with the headings: Background, Objective, Setting, Method, Main outcome measure, Results, Conclusion. The body of articles describing qualitative research may be 5000 words in length. They may only contain 6 tables or figures.
Personal Opinion and Commentaries
Authors can use personal opinion and commentary to convey thoughts, considerations, and opinions or discuss issues. Personal opinion and commentaries should not exceed 2000 words, including a maximum of 20 references. They may only contain 2 tables or figures. An unstructured abstract of max. 150 words is required.
Letters to the Editor
Letters that comment on a published article will be considered for publication. Letters should not exceed 1000 words, including a maximum of 5 references. Letters may contain a maximum of 2 tables or figures. No abstract required.
